Phase 2: Run the Service Tool
- Hardware vs. Software: The service tool resets the electronic counter. It does not physically clean or replace the waste ink pads. If your pads are physically saturated with ink, resetting the counter without replacing them will eventually cause ink to leak out of the bottom of the printer.
- Compatibility: V4718 is typically designed for older Canon printer models (series iP, iX, MP, MX, E, and some older G series). It may not work on very new models that require internet-based resets.
- Antivirus: Service tools are often flagged by antivirus software as "HackTools" or "Malware" due to the way they interface with hardware. You may need to temporarily disable your antivirus to run the tool.
