The , often called the "whiz wheel," has been a staple in aviation since World War II. While electronic versions exist, the classic analog sliderule remains a required skill for many flight training programs and navigation exams.
- Rotate inner dial to place Wind Direction (210°) under the True Index.
- Mark the wind dot 25 units up from the center grommet.
- Rotate to your True Course (270°) under the True Index.
- Slide the grid so the wind dot rests on the 115-knot TAS arc.
- Read WCA: The dot is left (port) of center. Count the lines: ~12° Left.
- Read GS: The dot now sits over ~98 kts.
