The engine (also known as the 1.6 THP 150) is part of the "Prince" engine family co-developed by PSA (Peugeot-Citroën) and BMW. While it offers strong performance, it is notorious for several high-stakes mechanical issues that require proactive maintenance to avoid catastrophic failure. ⚠️ Critical Weaknesses

• Avoid: Early 2006–2009 models with no history. If the timing chain and HPFP are original, run.
• Consider: 2010+ EP6DTS (N18 in Mini) which fixed many issues. Or, a well-documented EP6DT with receipts for chain, HPFP, and turbo line.
• Budget: If you buy one, immediately set aside $2k–$3k for proactive fixes.
