Furutech Fx-alpha-ag Review Instant
Precision in Motion: A Review of the Furutech FX-Alpha-AG Tonearm
Jacket
: Flexible, RoHS-compliant PVC in a signature translucent green. Impedance : Constant 75 Ω (± 5%). Practical Application
- Conductors: The centerpiece is the Alpha-OCC (Ohno Continuous Cast) Copper center pin and ground. This isn't just standard copper; it’s processed using Furutech’s patented Alpha treatment (cryogenic and demagnetizing process).
- Plating: The copper is plated with Silver (Ag), followed by a Rhodium flash over the ground collar, while the center pin gets a direct Silver plating. This combination is designed to offer the conductivity of silver with the durability of rhodium.
- The Housing: The shell is a non-magnetic Stainless Steel and Carbon fiber composite. It feels incredibly rigid and provides excellent shielding properties.
- The Grip: The cable clamp system is robust. It uses a two-piece collet system that grips the cable jacket firmly, preventing stress on the solder joints.
Bass Response:
The Alpha-AG is not about bloated, one-note bass. Instead, it delivers tight, articulate low-end with exceptional grip. Double bass plucks have a clear attack, a woody body, and a controlled decay. Electric bass lines in rock tracks (e.g., Rage Against the Machine – Take the Power Back ) became easier to follow note-by-note. furutech fx-alpha-ag review
