Let’s be real—it’s not always a joyous, liberated parade. Growing up with a high sex drive in a sex-negative world means you likely internalized a lot of shame. You might have been called "too much," "obsessed," or made to feel like your worth was tied to your sexual availability. Being HDSex-Positive is an active, daily practice of unlearning that shame and choosing to love your body and its needs anyway.
- Don't pathologize our desire. Having a high libido isn't a disorder, an addiction, or a trauma response (unless we say it is). Sometimes, we just really like sex!
- We want you to want it, too. Most HDSex-Positive people would rather have mind-blowing, connected sex twice a month than joyless, obligation-sex every day.
- Our identity is multifaceted. We are parents, professionals, artists, and friends. Our high libido is a piece of our puzzle, not the whole picture.
To create effective "sex-positive" content, the focus should be on promoting sexual health, consent, and autonomy HDSex-Positive
- Screening and care pathways that acknowledge trauma histories, avoid retraumatization, and provide referrals to mental-health and social supports.
