Driver Guide: HP un2420 Mobile Broadband Module for Windows 10

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Right-click the malfunctioning device (Unknown Device or the un2420 with a yellow mark) and select Update driver.
  3. Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
  4. Click Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
  5. Click Have Disk.
  6. Click Browse and navigate to the extracted folder (e.g., C:\SWSetup\sp51085\Driver\Win7_x64).
  7. Select the file named qcmdmntl.inf (or gobi2000.inf – do not select qcser.inf).
  8. Click Open > OK.
  9. You will see a list of models: "HP un2420 Mobile Broadband Module" or "Qualcomm Gobi 2000". Select it.
  10. Ignore the "Driver not intended for this platform" warning. Click Yes / Install.

Manual Update:

If the installer finishes but the module still isn't working, go to Device Manager , find the "un2420" entry, and use the "Update Driver" option. Manually point it to the C:\SWSetup folder where the files were extracted. 3. Common Post-Installation Tweaks

  • Open Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Set up a new connection or network.
  • Select Dial-up (Yes, this is correct. The Gobi 2000 emulates a modem).
  • Dial-up phone number: #777 (for Verizon, Sprint, Bell – or check your carrier’s APN settings)
  • User name & Password: Leave blank or use your carrier’s credentials (e.g., yournumber@vzw3g.com for older Verizon plans).
  • Click Connect.
