Important Note:

Genuine Navionics charts are never legally free for unlimited use. They are a paid subscription product. However, there are excellent free alternatives that offer the same core features.

1. Bricked Devices: Navionics charts use proprietary encoding. If you insert a fake SD card into a Raymarine or Garmin plotter, the unit may detect "Corrupt Chart Data" and lock up. Some users have reported needing factory resets.
2. No Updates: Real Navionics updates weekly with Community Edits (new buoys, hazard removals). A cracked map from 2022 will have zero updates. You run aground on a sandbar that moved last winter.
