The result is a 2160p (4K) version of Star Wars that looks better than anything officially released by the studio. Disney (which acquired Lucasfilm in 2012) owns the exclusive rights to distribute Star Wars in any form. While the original 1977 version is not commercially available, it is not public domain. Disney has issued DMCA takedown notices for Project 4K77 files hosted on some platforms.
