Stargas 898 User Manual -

Comprehensive Guide to the Stargas 898: User Manual & Technical Overview

  • Recommended functional test: monthly. Use a manufacturer-approved test gas or the test button per instructions.
  • Recommended calibration: annually or where accuracy is critical — use certified calibration gas at a known concentration (e.g., 50% LEL). Follow calibration procedure in full manual.
  • Sensor replacement: catalytic sensors have limited life (typically 2–5 years depending on environment); replace when sensor drift/fault occurs or per schedule.
  • Cleaning: gently vacuum or wipe enclosure with damp cloth; do not use solvents. Allow to dry before powering.
  • Record-keeping: log test dates, calibration, sensor replacements, and any alarms/events.
  1. Check the water trap/filter located on the side of the unit.
  2. If liquid is visible, remove the trap and empty it.
  3. Replace the filter element if it appears dirty or dark gray. A clogged filter will cause false readings.
  • Connect the USB cable to the detector’s bottom port.
  • Charge for at least 4 hours before first use.
  • The red LED indicates charging; green means fully charged.
  • Do not charge in a hazardous area (explosive atmosphere).
