Stereo Tool, developed by Thimeo Audio Technology, is a comprehensive software-based audio processor used primarily for FM, AM, and web broadcasting. Its configuration ranges from basic audio leveling to complex FM signal generation.
This is where you decide if your audio sounds "open" or "squashed." Stereo Tool typically uses 4 or 5 bands. stereo tool settings

Less is more on the input. More is more on the output. If you over-compress at the start, the later stages will turn your audio into a square wave. Composite Limiter : Limits the 19 kHz pilot
. He didn't want that "in-your-face" radio sound; he wanted warmth. He adjusted the ratio linking between bands, choosing a "soft mode" he’d read about in the latest version history
Declipper:
A critical feature that attempts to restore dynamics lost during the mastering process. 3. RDS (Radio Data System) Settings
This is the controversial part. The clipper intentionally chops off the top of your waveforms to gain perceived loudness.
- Composite Limiter: Limits the 19 kHz pilot + 23–53 kHz stereo subcarrier to prevent overdeviation (±75 kHz in most countries).
- RDS (57 kHz) and SCA filters: Can be inserted but reduce available deviation.
- Pre-emphasis (50 µs Europe, 75 µs USA): Boosts high frequencies before transmission; must be matched by de-emphasis in receivers. Stereo Tool applies pre-emphasis after clipping — careful to avoid high-frequency distortion.
- MPX Power: Controls total composite output level. Too high increases adjacent channel interference.
- Pilot Level (usually 8–10% of total deviation).
